The Son of a butcher
Chef, Kyle Stewart
Kyle's culinary journey began in his family's butcher shop, where his passion for food was ignited. The craft, artistry, and dedication to quality ingredients became integral to his identity. As a third-generation butcher, he had the privilege of learning time-honored skills from his father and grandfather. By twelve, he was already mastering the art of beef jerky making, and as he grew older, he expanded his expertise to sausage making and meat smoking.
After high school, Kyle remained committed to the family butcher shop for a few years before deciding to further his culinary ambitions. He enrolled in culinary school in the picturesque town of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, where he graduated with honors. Combining his butchery heritage with professional cooking, he went on to work at renowned establishments across Atlantic Canada, including Kingsbrae Gardens and Chef Michael Smith’s Inn at Bay Fortune in Prince Edward Island. Under the mentorship of some of the region’s top chefs, he cultivated a reputation as a rising star in the food industry.
Driven by a desire to share his culinary passion more intimately, Kyle founded The Son of a Butcher Catering and Private Chef service. This innovative venture allowed him to create personalized, multi-course dining experiences in clients' homes while continuing to evolve the family butcher shop into a thriving business.
In 2023, Kyle was entrusted with the launch and management of The Cap Sill restaurant on Deer Island. The establishment quickly gained acclaim, with numerous sold-out events and unforgettable dining experiences.
Now, Kyle is thrilled to join the team at The Rouxbarb, where he looks forward to crafting fresh, locally-inspired elevated dishes for the Charlotte County area. His relentless pursuit of culinary excellence drives him to push creative boundaries, blending bold flavors with expert craftsmanship. More than a chef, Kyle is a creator of experiences, uniting people through food and spreading joy with every dish he serves. He is The Son of a Butcher.
